Flushing underfloor heating and radiators
Maintenance keeps your boiler in good condition, but the boiler is only half the story. Over the years, dirt, rust, and sludge accumulate in the pipes, radiators, and underfloor heating units. You will notice this through radiators that do not heat up fully, underfloor heating that heats up unevenly, gurgling noises, dark central heating water, or a boiler that switches on frequently.
A well-maintained boiler running on a clogged system remains overloaded. That is why we also check the flow during maintenance.
If flushing is necessary, we perform this using professional equipment and treat the groups individually. This is where a cheap flush goes wrong: if you flush everything at once, the water takes the path of least resistance, and the contaminated group remains contaminated. Afterwards, we check the flow and refill and vent the system.
The result is a more evenly heated home, a boiler that doesn't have to work as hard, and less wear and tear on the pump. We usually schedule this together with the annual maintenance service, as the technician is at the installation anyway. Schedule immediate maintenance and flushing
Gaskets and ignition pins: the part that is often overlooked
During maintenance, we replace the necessary gaskets to prevent leaks and unsafe situations. For certain boiler brands, such as Remeha, we also replace the ignition pins when the manufacturer requires this in the maintenance instructions.
This is not a minor detail. In practice, we observe that gaskets and ignition pins are not always replaced during maintenance performed by other parties, even though this is necessary for safe and reliable operation. The maintenance is performed on paper, but the prescribed work has not been done.
What makes it difficult: you don't notice any of it at the time. The boiler works, the sticker is on it. The difference only becomes apparent with a malfunction you experience a year later, or with a leak that shouldn't have happened.
We therefore carry out the maintenance entirely in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
What happens if you skip maintenance
A central heating boiler that is not regularly maintained will consume more gas, experience more frequent malfunctions, and can become unsafe. Contamination, wear, worn gaskets, and defective parts can lead to gas, water, or flue gas leaks.
The most significant risk in this regard is poor combustion. In the worst-case scenario, this produces carbon monoxide, which is invisible and odorless. For this reason, we check the combustion during every service., the flue gas discharge and the presence of carbon monoxide.
